Texture-Text-Filled Selection
This is one of my very first tutorials I did to pass a step in Stepping Stones. I went back through it but if there is something you don't understand let me know. I will try to clarify.
I got this tube of a teapot from a tube group without a signature on top of it but it is by Sandy Lynam Clough. If any of you would like to use it let me know and I will send it to you. Just send me your email addy.
Ok, this is so cool. I was able to attach the psp file to this blog. The teapot. There is a paperclip at the end of your compose blog entry toolbar. Let me know if you can get it someone please.
The texture is a picture I took myself. Use texture you like.
Open a transparent image 500 X 500. You can always re size later but give yourself plenty of room to work.
Go to view and check rulers. I always like to use my rulers to refer back for placement of things on my image.
Also check your guides and snap to guides, in View.
Go to layers in your tool bar or layers in your layer palette and click on new raster layer.
Go back to layers and click on new raster layer again. So now you have three raster layers. Name Raster 2 texture.
I like to go ahead and drop my tube on a raster especially if I am working with a tube so I can do a color match from the tube itself. Right click in your layers palette and rename the top or third raster layer the name of your tube. Drop the tube at 250 and 250 on the left and top ruler marks on your tube raster layer.
Highlight your first Raster layer and click on foreground in your materials property box and color and make this color #8799bd or pick a medium tone color you like from the tube.
Click on the background properties box and click on the Texture box so you can find and bring up a texture. Make the angle 45 and the scale 10. While you have this properties box open make the color of this #0c173c or pick a different dark shade to contrast with the first color you picked.
Go to your tools and get your paint can or Flood flood fill tool and left click with your foreground color over your transparent image then right click over the same image with your texture that is in your background box.

Your image and layers palette should look like this above. Tube on top, texture in the middle and solid color on the bottom.
Highlight your texture raster in the layers palette,
Go to Effects-Art Media-Brush strokes-click on the arrow at the top for default-ok.
Highlight your tube, layer,
Go to Effects-3D effects-Drop shadow, make your settings,
Vertical 9
Horizontal 9
Opacity 100
Blur 10
Color Black, ok.

<-----preset shapes
Click on Preset shapes in your tool palette and find the Ellipse.
In your materials palette click on the no color sign in your background box.

<----no color
Your settings for the Ellipse should be Anti-alias checked, Create as vector checked, line style-solid, width 2.
Start a the 25 mark on your ruler on the right and close to 0 on the top and pull your circle to the right and down right off the image until you have a half circle right above your tube. It will look kind of elongated like this.

Go get your Text tool,
Font size 72-Anti-alias smooth, Stroke width 1, Create as Vector.
click on the curved line until you see the little horse shoe under the A and that means your text will be on your shape.
Go find the Etched font or whatever font you like, type your name. If it is a font in your font folder remember you will have to minimize it and the folder you got it from to your windows tool bar.
Un check no color so you will have color in your bottom box.
Highlight your name and click on the foreground color box in materials palette and make that color #826a46, ok. click on the background color box in materials and make that #d4ac66, ok.

In the Layers palette over on the right where your layers are stacked click on the plus sign by your text and and you will see the A where the text is and the layer below where the Ellipse is. Click on the eye to get rid of your Ellipse. It should look like this.

You will still have your vector box around your name. Click on the minus sign now and right click on your Vector layer and promote to a Raster.
Go to Effects-3D-Inner bevel-default arrow-click ok.
Go to Effects-3D-Drop shadow and leave everything the same but make the Vertical 3 and Horizontal 3. Click ok.
This step is optional but I liked it because it made it look like the cloth was on a table.
Go to your Texture layer in your Layers palette and highlight it. Click on Layer and new raster layer. Highlight your new layer and rename it Table.
Go to your top ruler and left click. When the cross changes to a double line pull your guide down to right under the edge of the tube. Go to selection in the tool bar, rectangle, and pull it down from the top left corner of your guide to the bottom right so there is a marquee all the way around the bottom of your tag in the shape of a rectangle.
