Dana Depp Fry Bread
I was craving some Indian tacos and back somewhere in the depth of my memory banks I remembered that Dana put her recipe on 360 some time ago but went back there and she was closed for business. We can get them at the casino but I wanted to make some like the Indian Princess did. So I asked her and she graciously brought the recipe to Multiply. Here is her version and she doesn't measure. She also has a big family so she makes a big batch. So I made some adjustments and my recipe is sorta measured. Oh, and here are the pictures.

One beer(optional) For drinking
3 1/2 cups of flour
2 palmfuls of instant milk. I have big hands so I let some sift out of my hand. I figure Dana's hands are a lot smaller than mine. This came to about 1/4 cup.
1 pinch of salt
About to 1 cup water
1 packet of yeast or a Tablespoon of bread maker yeast which is what I had
Now, you can make a well in the middle of the flour and put your water in there and your yeast in the water and stir it being careful not to get the flour mixed in and wait one baseball game inning or until it gets foamy (per Dana's instructions) or...
You can put the liquids in a bread maker and throw the dry on top putting the yeast on last and close it up and run it on the dough setting. Forgive me Dana for I have sinned. I have had kids for three days and they wanted my undivided attention and corn dogs.
So the bread maker beeps and you get the dough out, knead again or not. Dana didn't and it turned out fine. I did because the kids were still here and I didn't want to make them yet and put in a warm spot. She covered hers with a towel. I used saran wrap so I could watch it.
If it looks bubbly on top Dana says you know it will be good an fry thicker. Mine was and did. Instead of adding flour when I kneed I use oil. That way I don't get too much flour.
Use a big old skillet full of vegetable shortening. See Dana's recipe for shortening in the skillet pic. (This ain't no diet recipe but if your grease is real hot your bread won't absorb much) You know it's hot enough when you throw a little flour in and it sizzles and disappears. (A time tested Dana procedure)
Roll out your circles of dough thin. They will really puff up. Lay in the grease and cook until golden brown.
In the meantime cook your meat and taco seasoning. She used chili beans, I used black beans and while these puppies are frying get all your onions, cheese and whatever ready as toppings. This is some good stuff maynard.
