Making Your Own Brushes I

I have been making some brushes for psp to use in my collages.  Julie Ann found a good tutorial for those of you that have photo shop and anyone who has psp can use it too.  You will just have to adapt it a little.  That link is here.  There are a million ways to make a brush.

When I am baby sitting or just watching tv at night I have been using markers and crayons and just making patterns on paper.  I don't have a scanner which I would love but just can't see buying one of those big all in one deals so I just take pictures of my doodles and upload them to the computer.  Here are a couple I did.  If you use a black marker on heavier paper it is usually easier to capture the outlines.

Just making them is fun.  After you upload them bring them up in your workspace and
Selections-select all then
Selections-float
If your lines are defined enough it should get all your design.  If you want to use your paint can and fill with black to make it darker you can do that but it isn't necessary.  Depending on your doodle it can make it more defined if you have used a light color to draw it in the first place.

Then copy while it is still outlined and paste as a new image.

If floating doesn't capture your image then use your magic wand, third down on your tool bar, look in the fly out.  Settings
Mode-Add
Tolerance-around 16
Contiguous checked
Feather 0
Anti-alias-checked
Outside
Hold down your shift key and touch your wand to the outside edge until your whole figure is outlined.  If it adds more than the outline click on your back arrow and continue from there.  When you get it all outlined  all you have to do is
File-Export-Custom Brush and name it. You don't have to fill it or put a background on it or save it as a jpeg first if you don't want to.

Here is a tag I mad with the second brush.
