MrP talked to the trash guys. They will take empty cans if they are bagged separately. Imagine that. He will then set his empty cans on the counter. I will rinse them out for him and put them in a sack. Then I will proceed to take the sack to the garage and empty the sack into a bigger trash bag when it is full. When said bag is full I will put a twist tie on it and set it out on trash day for the trash men. That is how MrP is going to go green.
Kind of like how Willie goes green, except ours get loaded into the trunk of the car and I drive them to the recycling center. He is so earth conscious!!!
Well at lest you are going green, but if i'm gonna take the time to rinse and save cans, I'll take them and sell them for a whole $.25/lb lolol
That is the problem with recycling granny, the incentive. I mean we even have a can crusher but what you get for what you take plus by the time you buy gas doesn't make it worth your while. Especially when we have to drive about 30 minutes to get to the place to take them.
My family puts the cans in the sink or leave them on the table for me to do all that, but there is no one to pick them up and all the recycle places around here require them to be washed and no water in them and squished down from top to bottom (not flattened in the middle) so I just have a huge pile of garbage bags outside waiting for some place to allow me to dump cans that aren't washed and water free and squished just right.
I don't mind rinsing them but I never heard of them having to be water free. I even have a crusher so I could do that but they always don't crush just perfect. Geez why don't they make it hard on you?
thump him on the head next time he even looks like he's thinking
Dang laurie, his head would look like a peanut patty with all those thump marks. I swear that is all he does is sit around and think up stuff for me to do. Like feed and water HIS stray cats.
I think the recycling places around here are discriminating against frogs because the hispanic neighbor can take all sorts of things to be recycled and he speaks only spanish there so they take it all. If only they knew he spoke perfect english :)
BTW I think it is great MrP is working so hard to keep our planet nice! Did you know that around here we only call men Mr. if we can't stand them. We call them by their name or Sir if we like them.
Don't side with him now frog. lol I did not know that about the Mister and never heard that, although I think sir sounds better. I personally don't like it when someone calls me ma'am though. It makes me feel really old.
I allways set the comment section in reverse.. so sometimes I miss the first comments left.. my bad ! however, if you were to save the cans and then one day while going into town anyhow, stop by and drop them off ?
move to Australia you get 5c for every can, don't have tp rinse them don't have to squish them (they like then entire) and you get 5c for each one Don't knock that 5c either just from the floor my X's car alone that was at least $10 worth
...or move to Sweden! It was a pretty good deal bringing them back, but I don't remember how much you got for each can. They decided to increase the pay for them in order to prevent people throwing them away anywhere and it worked well.
It seems it's better everywhere than here. It would be nice if they even considered doing something for the people in the outlying areas but they are independent trash haulers. I guess they just aren't interested.
Here in Sweden we have special stations where we can recycle petbottles, cans (like coca-cola) and also batteries. Usually they are placed close to the grocery store.
HAHA - wait 'till I stop laughing snorting and drying tears of laughter.
We also have recycling boxes one for paper and one for that other stuff. Both are clean and neatly standing in a corner outside. Once in a while I'll help MrWabbit out by emptying leaves and dust particles that happen to accidentally fall into them.
The Indians have a huge entrance into this site. You have to buy a ticket just to go into the area with the information about the ruins that is right below it. We didn't go into the ruins but got permission to photograph the information you see here and the ruins from below. There were 150 school kids ahead of us and it would have been several hours wait. I wanted to get to the falls that day so we opted out. I have been to Mesa Verde (pictures here: http://tinyurl.com/64cdkn ) three times and it is my favorite. We have also been to Canyon De Chelly which is another favorite and I swear in Canyon De Chelly(pronounced De Shay) you could feel the Indian spirit there. Pictures here: http://tinyurl.com/yze4ghz The tenacity of these people is amazing to say the least. It says they made ladders to their homes on the side of the mesa. What they mean is not hand made ladders but they chipped out hand and foot holds into the rock to literally climb the face of the rock. ...

Just some things I have been doing. I don't expect anyone to understand it but it is a messy art mostly made up from junk around the house with some embellishments. I am taking a class for fun that is free on line. Jennibelli journal workshop here . It's a ning site so you have to sign up somewhere to join if you are interested but this gal has a Youtube site with all her free videos on it. I started this project as a way to save all the old odds and ends pictures I have but it has become more about the art and allowing myself to be messy. It's all about taking old paint, scraps of paper and pulling them into some form of cohesion to express yourself. And it's loads of fun. Now if I just had more time in the day.
