How Mr.P is Going Green

Blog EntryOct 14, '08 11:29 PM
for everyone
MrP talked to the trash guys.  They will take empty cans if they are bagged separately.  Imagine that.  He will then set his empty cans on the counter.  I will rinse them out for him and put them in a sack.  Then I will proceed to take the sack to the garage and empty the sack into a bigger trash bag when it is full.  When said bag is full I will put a twist tie on it and set it out on trash day for the trash men.  That is how MrP is going to go green.

I am sure all that going green is sure to wear out his point little head, huh?

I don't know how he will be able to stand the pressure of moving the can from the living room to the counter. We had this conversation this evening.

Point 1. MrP needs to stop dringking so much crap...
OBVIOUS Point 2. Man needs to get off his butt and do it himself dammit.

lol, that's exactly what I told him. Almost in those exact words.

Uhmmm...wait a minute...he's going green by having YOU do the work?? ROFL!!
freyavalkyrie wrote on Oct 15, '08
Well he actually IS going green...having you move the stuff and do all the work is saving HIM energy....*rolls eyes*

Kind of like how Willie goes green, except ours get loaded into the trunk of the car and I drive them to the recycling center. He is so earth conscious!!!

Well at lest you are going green, but if i'm gonna take the time to rinse and save cans, I'll take them and sell them for a whole $.25/lb lolol

That is the problem with recycling granny, the incentive. I mean we even have a can crusher but what you get for what you take plus by the time you buy gas doesn't make it worth your while. Especially when we have to drive about 30 minutes to get to the place to take them.

Of course, YOU're just polluting the hell out of the whole world with all that wasted energy of YOURS. LOL

Haha, read above freya. It is really not cost effective to recycle.

Every little bit helps! But it sounds more like YOU are going green instead of MrP LOL

My family puts the cans in the sink or leave them on the table for me to do all that, but there is no one to pick them up and all the recycle places around here require them to be washed and no water in them and squished down from top to bottom (not flattened in the middle) so I just have a huge pile of garbage bags outside waiting for some place to allow me to dump cans that aren't washed and water free and squished just right.

I don't mind rinsing them but I never heard of them having to be water free. I even have a crusher so I could do that but they always don't crush just perfect. Geez why don't they make it hard on you?

Men come up with some pretty bright ideas

Dang laurie, his head would look like a peanut patty with all those thump marks. I swear that is all he does is sit around and think up stuff for me to do. Like feed and water HIS stray cats.

Go green and get a little cash too... recycle businesses will pay for that aluminum.. I'd soon get the money as the trash guys..

You didn't read above dale. not worth it by the time and money it takes to get there. It takes more gas to get there than I get for the cans.

I think the recycling places around here are discriminating against frogs because the hispanic neighbor can take all sorts of things to be recycled and he speaks only spanish there so they take it all. If only they knew he spoke perfect english :)

BTW I think it is great MrP is working so hard to keep our planet nice! Did you know that around here we only call men Mr. if we can't stand them. We call them by their name or Sir if we like them.

Don't side with him now frog. lol I did not know that about the Mister and never heard that, although I think sir sounds better. I personally don't like it when someone calls me ma'am though. It makes me feel really old.

I allways set the comment section in reverse.. so sometimes I miss the first comments left.. my bad ! however, if you were to save the cans and then one day while going into town anyhow, stop by and drop them off ?

I don't know what it's like over there but we do have loads of different types of trash here which means that we now have four different bins.
osuzana wrote on Oct 15, '08
I wish they would provide us bins. We get nothing out here.
mscornwall wrote on Oct 15, '08
We have four different bins plus containers for different types of glasses etc.

Yes, they are, aren't they? It's amazing how easily they fall into that roll! (wink, wink)

I think it is a man thing raenie. What do you say Vic?

5 cents would be good missy. We get something like a quarter a pound. Do you know how many cans it takes to make a pound? A whole lot.

Yeah Vic, I just hate talking to my trash guys, since they are all young and cute. lol
bonobubba wrote on Oct 16, '08
We get 75 cents or more a pound here in Arkansas. Some friends of mine were getting almost 2 dollars a pound for cans out in California.

...or move to Sweden! It was a pretty good deal bringing them back, but I don't remember how much you got for each can. They decided to increase the pay for them in order to prevent people throwing them away anywhere and it worked well.
osuzana wrote on Oct 16, '08
It seems it's better everywhere than here. It would be nice if they even considered doing something for the people in the outlying areas but they are independent trash haulers. I guess they just aren't interested.
monaswe2007 wrote on Oct 17, '08
Here in Sweden we have special stations where we can recycle petbottles, cans (like coca-cola) and also batteries. Usually they are placed close to the grocery store.

We get something like 67 cent for every can
osuzana wrote on Oct 19, '08
Wow, that's good mona, I wish we had something nice like that.

HAHA - wait 'till I stop laughing snorting and drying tears of laughter.

We also have recycling boxes one for paper and one for that other stuff. Both are clean and neatly standing in a corner outside. Once in a while I'll help MrWabbit out by emptying leaves and dust particles that happen to accidentally fall into them.
truemaskedwabbit wrote on Oct 21, '08
PS - those trash collector guys *are* cute aren't they - smirks.
osuzana wrote on Oct 21, '08
lol, it just doesn't pay to be a wife sometimes Wabbit and heck yeah they are. I watch them out the window every Wednesday afternoon.
